1. #CQ: insium's Courage Questionnaire (CQ): We are excited to inform you that we had in excess of 500 people globally respond to our CQ! Thank you to all who participated and shared the CQ with your own networks. You have all contributed to increase the current data that exists on workplace courage.
As you can imagine, there is a lot of data to analyse which we will be doing over the coming months with the knowledge, skills and generosity of Dr Peggy Kern, who is helping us in this endeavour.
We can't wait to share our findings with you, and for now we thought we would pique your curiosity with one of the findings. Participants were asked to respond to the question, "What would you do in the workplace if you had more courage?" The three top responses, in order, were:
- Speak up
- Provide feedback
- Challenge
We're motivated by what we will find to add to the literature and experience of workplace courage. We'll let you know more as soon as we learn more.
2. #CourageAtConferences:
We're thrilled to be spreading the word about workplace courage at the following two conferences.
Firstly, Dina will be leading a panel discussion at the LBG Annual Conference: Going Global. In the discussion, Courage to Change the World, Dina will invite senior leaders to share their insights into how their organisations have developed the courage to implement change, in order to deal with major social issues. This conference is taking place on November 20th, 2018 in Melbourne; more information can be found here.
This will be followed closely by Dina facilitating our Courageous Self workshop at the New Zealand Association of Positive Psychology, 4th Biennial Conference 2018: Positive Psychology in New Zealand - Spreading its Wings. This is taking place at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, NZ on November 24th.
We are honoured and appreciative of the opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with you. She hopes to see you there!
3. #CourageIsContagious
Dina was humbled and speechless to read the following acknowledgement in Nick Craig's book, Leading from Purpose:
"Dana, along with courage experts Dina Pozzo and David Hopley, were critical to my understanding the deeper connection between purpose and courage. Dina, at one point your encouragement was what pushed me to uncover what I hadn't been able to see and get it done!"
Courage truly is contagious (Haidt, 2002 and Brene Brown, 2018). Imagine a world where we all acted with courage!
Nick Craig is the President and Founder of the Core Leadership Institute, with whom insium has partnered for the past 4 years to encourage leaders to courageously explore and live their purpose.
Again, thank you for your support and commitment to developing courage in our workplaces and in our world; your encouragement is contagious!
Best regards,
Geoff and Dina (@CourageChick)
